A live action version of the one-time DC Comics title Monolith is being developed at Lionsgate, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Dave Wilson, who serves as the creative director for Deadpool director Tim Miller's Blur Studios, has reportedly been tapped to helm this project, with Barnett Brettler scripting.
Based on Jewish folklore, Monolith features a recovering drug addict named Alice who inherits a Brooklyn brownstore and discovers a monstrous golem buried inside its walls.
Monolith was first published as a 12-issue series at DC Comics from 2004 to 2005. In 2012, creators Jimmy Palmiotti, Justin Gray, and Phil Winslade won back the rights for the out-of-print series, and published a hardcover collection at Image Comics.
No time table for production or release was given.
