Veronica Mars and iZombie showrunner Rob Thomas is developing a live-action television series based on the 1987s cult film The Lost Boys for the CW, according to Deadline.

Reportedly envisioned as a "seven-season, anthology-style run" according to the Hollywood trade, each season of the purported The Lost Boys series would be set in a new decade, beginning with the "Summer of Love" in 1960s San Francisco. The cast would change with each season to make the change in time and locale, with the vampiric "Lost Boys" being the only constant.

Directed by Joel Schumacher, the original The Lost Boys film was a teenage vampire film based loosely on J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan. Two direct-to-home video sequels were produced, and DC Comics also published a comic book sequel - with plans for another announced earlier this year.

This report just a few weeks after the CW confirmed that its long-running flagship show The Vampire Diaries is preparing for its series finale.
