Prior to Disney's buyout of Lucasfilm, George Lucas was developing a Star Wars TV series. Though Lucas's series will likely never see the light of day, ABC is apparently in talks to bring a Star Wars show to air.
“As a fan, I would absolutely love to say yes,” ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey told Deadline about a Star Wars series. “We have had conversations, and we will continue to have conversations with Lucasfilm. It would be wonderful to extend the franchise.”
Like Star Wars, ABC is owned by Disney, and have already brought TV shows based on other Disney franchise acquisitions such as the Marvel Universe and the Muppets to air. And interesting, ABC aired the TV spin-off of Lucasfilm's other major franchise: 1992's Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.
No information about what a potential Star Wars series would look like or what its subject matter would be has been revealed.
