Netflix has acquired the rights to stream CBS's new Star Trek series - but only outside of the U.S. and Canada, according to Deadline.
The report indicates that Netflix will stream the new live-action Star Trek television series in 188 countries, effectively making the U.S. and Canada the only countries Netflix won't air the series. That is due to CBS holding back the U.S. streaming rights for its CBS All Access app, and having already sold the Canadian rights to Bell Media.
The new series is scheduled to debut sometime in 2017, though details on the cast and story are still scarce. Episodes will reportedly debut on Netflix 24 hours after the series debuts in the U.S.
