With Star Trek Beyond debuting this Friday, a fourth Star Trek film has been announced by Paramount Pictures, Skydance, and Bad Robot. The film will have Chris Pine's James. T. Kirk "cross paths" with his dead father, played by the returning Chris Hemsworth.

Hemsworth played Kirk's father, George Samuel Kirk, in the opening moments of 2009's Star Trek.

This fourth Star Trek film will be written by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. The full cast of Star Trek Beyond - absent the late Anton Yelchin - is scheduled to return as well.

No details on a director or release date were given.
