Last night Marvel released the Marvel NOW! Previews Magazine, revealing 60 titles taking part in its fall "Marvel NOW!" initiative scheduled to begin in October 2016 - but there's some confusion over when they titles featured in the magazine will begin. Here's what you need to know - the magazine isn't a catalog, and it also isn't the October 2016 solicitations. Those will come out later this month, as is standard.
Although "Marvel NOW!" begins in October, the titles in the magazine don't all begin in October. The featured titles will debut over several months, possibly even into 2017 - the same way "All-New All-Different Marvel"'s Spider-Man was held off for months after that initiative's launch.
Additionally, according to the publisher there will be more "Marvel NOW!" titles that will debut down the road that are not even featured in this week's magazine.
The magazine's checklist also doesn't reflect an October shipping schedule. Spider-Man 2099 #21 (as listed in magazine) will not come out in October. September's solicited issue of Spider-Man 2099 is #15, meaning #16 will presumably come out in October, with the title not actually dovetailing into "Marvel NOW!" status quo until #21 months later.
So while some existing ongoing titles will join the "Marvel NOW!" status quo without being relauched, they apparently officially become "NOW!" titles in staggered, rather than uniform fashion.
So what will Marvel's actual October 2016 catalog look like? That question won't be fully answered until the actual release of Marvel's October 2016 solicitations later this month.
Stay tuned to Newsarama for more on "Marvel NOW!" as well as the October 2016 solicitations for Marvel and all other major publishers.
