Underworld: Blood Wars has been pushed back from its planned October 14 release date to January 6, 2017, according to Variety. No reason was given for the rescheduling of the film, although the filming was reportedly completed in December 2015. This is the fifth film in the Underworld franchise, with Kate Beckinsale reprising her role as the vampire hybrid Selena.

Underworld was created by actor/comic book writer Kevin Grevioux along with screenwriter Danny McBride and Len Wiseman. Wiseman directed the first two films, with first-time director Anna Foerster making her debut with this new film.
