In the latest "Marvel NOW!" teaser, the publisher has paired Jessica Jones with Deadpool & The Mercs For Money's Solo.
Marvel Executive Editor Tom Brevoort stated earlier this year that Jessica Jones would have a larger role after Civil War II. This appearance here follows earlier announcements that the character would appear both in Patsy Walker A.K.A. Hellcat and a story in the Civil War II: Choosing Sides anthology.
With the inclusion of Solo, this would be the third character from the recent series Deadpool & the Mercs for Money, which is being launched as an ongoing series later this year.
Although this might seem to break the mold of a generational/legacy hero appearing in these "Marvel NOW!" teasers, eagle-eyed readers will remember that Jones briefly took the name 'Power Woman' after her husband during "Heroic Age."
Previous teasers have paired Foolkiller with the All-New Wasp, Odinson with Spider-Man (Miles Morales), Ms. America with Doctor Doom, Black Panther with Prowler, Ms. Marvel with Iron Man supporting character Riri Williams (in armor), Captain Marvel and Slapstick, and Steve Rogers with new Inhuman Mosaic.
In all eight teasers, there is at least one generational/legacy character. That could be be read as an intentional play by Marvel, but could also be chalked up to mere coincidence given the rising number of new characters Marvel has introduced that borrow the name of more established characters/brands.
Interestingly, there are no X-Men-affiliated characters in the sixteen characters currently highlighted for "Marvel NOW!"
