Just weeks after comiXology announced plans for a Netflix-style comics reading service called comiXology Unlimited, a similiar service launched last year called ComicBlitz is expanding outside of the iOS platform and adding more publishers.
“Expanding our platform to include a mobile-responsive, web-based app allows us to reach exponentially more comic readers and introduce new readers to the stories and characters we all love," said ComicBlitz founder Jordan Plosky. "We’re very proud to continue delivering a truly unlimited library of content with no limitations as to what our readers can consume. Not only are we expanding the ways for readers to access ComicBlitz, but we’re also expanding our library of content by adding new publishers every month.”
Originally launched in October 2015 as an iOS-only app, ComicBlitz has now expanded its $9.99 service to be available to both the Android and Windows mobile platforms, as well as on traditional PC's and laptops via a new "universally compatible" web app.
In addition, ComicBlitz has now reached an agreement with the Image Comics' imprint Top Cow to begin running some of its titles on the ComicBlitz' flat rate reading app. Top Cow joins other major publishers Dynamite Entertainment, Valiant Entertainment, Zenescope, Action Lab, and others.
