Star Wars: The Force Awakens actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers has been cast as the new Vixen for DC's Legends of Tomorrow on the CW. Richardson-Sellers will play Amaya, the grandmother of Megalyn Echikunwoke's character Amaya, who was Vixen in both the self-titled CW Seed animated series and in the most recent season of Arrow.
Continuity-wise, DC's Legends of Tomorrow's time-travelling premise will make this second Vixen an easy character to introduce. Earlier reports indicated that Echikunwoke was offered to reprise her role as Vixen in DC's Legends of Tomorrow but had scheduling conflicts. Neither the actress nor the network has commented or confirmed those reports.
In addition to her small role as Korr Sella in The Force Awakens, Maisie Richardson-Sellers is perhaps best known for her recurring role on another CW series, The Originals. She also recently co-starred in the short-lived Of Kings and Prophets on ABC.
DC's Legends of Tomorrow is scheduled to return with its second season beginning October 13.
