Aspen Comics has revealed two new variant covers for Justice League: Rebirth #1 featuring artwork by the late Michael Turner. Based on unpublished artwork by artist who passed away in 2008, this new piece was finished with colors and additional artwork by Peter Steigerwald. Aspen will be selling both the colored edition and pencilled edition exclusively through their website, with an limited number said to be sold at their Comic-Con International: San Diego booth.
This is the second set of "Rebirth" variant covers Aspen Comics has produced for DC using artwork from the late artist, although they have also co-opted art from Turner for Marvel and other publishers in the recent past. Turner founded Aspen in 2002, creating many of their key titles including Soulfire, Fathom, and Ekos. The artist passed away in 2008 after a long battle with bone cancer.
