After appearing only in blurry cameos in Supergirl's inaugural season on CBS, Superman will make a full appearance in the show's two-part second season premiere on the CW.
According to Deadline, CW is currently seeking an actor to play the Man of Steel. Kevin Caliber portrayed Superman in the aforementioned blurry cameos, however it seems he will not reprise the role for the full appearance. Child actor Daniel DiMaggio also portrayed a young Kal-El in a dream sequence.
“[Producers] Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl,” said executive producer and series co-creator Andrew Kreisberg. “We cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape.”
In the first season's finale, a spacecraft pod similiar to the one Supergirl arrived on Earth in crashed near National City. The final shot was of Supergirl opening the pod and being shocked by what was inside, but the contents have yet to be disclosed. Melissa Benoist herself said she hasn't been told what is intended to be in the pod.
It is unknown if Superman will appear in any further episodes beyond the season premiere.
