Jared Leto's Joker has been positioned in the trailers as the primary villain of this summer's Suicide Squad, but those trailers have shown glimpses of seemingly alien creatures and military personnel covered in eyes. It's still unknown who - or what - these creatures are, but Suicide Squad producer Charles Roven calls them "The Eyes of the Adversary".
"Let's just say, when [Task Force X] is called in to do this mission by Amanda, these are one of the things they encounter," Roven explained in the latest issue of Total Film Magazine (via SuperHeroHype user Tacit-Ronin). "They don't know how they got here, but they're weird and dangerous and yet they're wearing military uniforms."
Roven offers no further clues about the identity of the Adversary, or the purpose these 'Eyes' serve. However, in DC Comics, there is a minor Superman villain named the Adversary - a psychic villain with a connection to Satanus, a demonic being with reality-warping powers. The Adversary has only had a handful of appearances in the early 2000s, but Warner Bros. thought enough of the character to include him as a primary villain in a 2005 episode of the animated series Justice League Unlimited.
Speaking of the film's confirmed villain, Leto appears to be back in Joker costume according to his Twitter account, possibly in Miami, despite the film's shooting having reportedly wrapped. Suicide Squad may be undergoing reshoots, or he may simply be participating in a photo-op.
