Warner Bros.'s upcoming Suicide Squad movie is the summer's most-twetted movie, according to Twitter (via USA Today). The David Ayer-directed movie chalked up 1 million tweets between March 1 and May 26, which puts it far ahead other upcoming movies such as Finding Dory (869k), Ghostbusters (565k), Me Before You (329k), Teenage Muta'snt Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (251k), and Warcraft (244k).
Suicide Squad's social media buzz is attributed to a Twitter-exclusive Joker emoji with the hastag #JokerWasHere, which actor Jared Leto shared to his 2.27m followers, as well as a new trailer in April which had 130k+ retweets and 170k+ likes.
Suicide Squad pales in comparison to the recently released Captain America: Civil War and X-Men: Apocalypse, which had 10.4m and 1.8m tweets respectively. However, some of that could be attributed to the enhanced marketing push leading up to the movie's release in the reporting window.
Suicide Squad is scheduled to be released August 5.
