Vixen actress Megalyn Echikunwoke was seen on the dais at CW's upfronts while the network made announcements about its DC Comics TV shows. While this may have simply been a nod to her starring role in the CW Seed Vixen animated series, her presence may indicate that CW is preparing her for more visibility in the coming season - and perhaps more in live-action.
Though it's unlikely CW will be ready to add yet another superhero show to their slate after already taking over Supergirl from CBS, that doesn't mean Vixen won't get a bump to the big leagues. Echikunwoke provides Vixen's voice in her animated shorts, but also portrayed her in live action in an episode of Arrow. With DC's Legends of Tomorrow losing at least one regular cast member in the fall as Wentworth Miller's Captain Cold moves into a role that will have him guest-starring in multiple shows, could Vixen be the next hero to step up and take flight on the Waverider?
So far, the biggest announcements from CW’s upfronts are confirmation of a four part crossover between Supergirl, Legends, Flash, and Arrow, and the announcement that Supergirl will retain its Monday night time slot, ported over from CBS. But Legends is reportedly already on the hunt for new crew members, so an announcement of its new characters may not be far off.
Or perhaps CW is prepping Echikunwoke for a role similar to that of Miller's Leonard Snart, moving between shows, which producer Greg Berlanti said could extend to multiple characters in their universe.
