TV/movie producer Greg Berlanti has confirmed that he's got a Booster Gold film in the works, and that X-Men: First Class writer Zack Stentz is indeed writing the script.
“I'm attached to a few films [at Warner Bros.] now, and one, Booster Gold, is a DC property,” Berlanti told The Hollywood Reporter. “Zack Stentz, who wrote an episode of Flash last year, just got the job, so he's writing the script now.”
Stentz wrote this week's episode of The Flash, a gig he said was a result of delays to the then-unspecified project that's now been confirmed to be Booster Gold.
“I'd probably direct that, or I would want to,” he confirmed.
Berlanti makes no mention of Blue Beetle, however. Previous versions of the then-rumor indicated Booster and Beetle would be teamed together in a more light-hearted, buddy cop-like film.
Berlanti is the top producer of DC television shows such as The Flash, Arrow, DC's Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl, as well as delving into the movie side on several occasions including co-writing the Green Lantern movie.
Prior to being DC's go-to guy for television adaptations, Berlanti was at one point attached to direct The Flash movie. With the director's chair of that movie now reportedly open again, however, Berlanti said he he wouldn't do it even if asked, given Ezra Miller is signed to play the title role.
“No one's discussed that with me, but I could never direct a Flash movie that Grant Gustin wasn't the lead of,” Berlanti explained. “He's my Flash.”
