Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of Captain America: Civil War and the upcoming (and still tentatively titled) Avengers: Infinity War Parts One and Two will create and produce a Chinese superhero film franchise entitled A Hero's Awakening, but which local fans have reportedly nicknamed "Captain China", according to The Hollywood Reporter.

China is a growing market for superhero films, providing the second highest global receipts for Captain America: Civil War so far. Earlier this year, the Russos set up a studio called Anthem & Song, designed to create properties for Chinese audiences. Anthem & Song will produce the Chinese superhero project alongside Chinese studio Beijing FangJin Visual Media Culture Communication Company.

"It is fair to say that the Russos are regarded as heroes in the global film business," said FangJin CEO Li Xing. "In the future, everyone will be focused on the China market. By working with the Russos, we want to use the best visual storytelling to make localized films that fit the Chinese market."

Details of A Hero's Awakening are being kept under wraps, but it will be produced in China and feature an all Chinese cast. No projected release date was announced.
