Captain America: Civil War directors Joe and Anthony Russo are already looking forward to the two-part Avengers: Infinity War movies, especially to work with Chris Pratt's Star-Lord and Chris Hemsworth's Thor. The directing duo pinpointed those two characters as the ones they're looking forward to using in their next Marvel film.
"The movies are intended to be a culmination of everything that's happened before in the MCU so you don't want to get into spoilers but I'm a big fan of what James Gunn has done," Anthony Russo told ComicBook, asked what characters he's looking forward to working with. "[Joe Russo and I] are both big fans of what James Gunn has done. Star-Lord is a fantastic character and Chris Pratt is an awesome performer so you'd be very excited."
While Russo only specifically mentions Star-Lord, Newsarama still expects an appearance by the entire Guardians of the Galaxy team, given the director reminds Infinity War will culminate the MCU Thanos-Infinity Stones story that was key to their origin story.
Thor is one of only two Avengers not announced as part of Captain America: Civil War (along with the Hulk), and Joe Russo says that the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok will leave the character in "a very interesting place."
"I'm excited to work with Thor. They're doing some really interesting stuff with Ragnarok and where he's gonna be at the beginning of Infinity War is gonna be a very interesting place and I think very profound," said Joe Russo. "I think he's gonna have a real emotional motivation after that."
Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 is scheduled for release May 4, 2018, with Infinity War Part 2 coming on May 3, 2019.
