According to Deadline, 20th Century Fox has cast actor Boyd Holbrook as the unnamed lead villain opposite Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart in 2017's third and last Wolverine installment.
Holbrook will reportedly play "a relentless, calculating and intense head of Security for a global enterprise who is set against Jackman’s clawed Wolverine/Logan hero."
Wolverine 3 - reportedly gearing up for a May production start for a March 3, 2017 release - will be directed by The Wolverine's James Mangold from a screenplay by David James Kelly.
The Kentucky-born Holbrook is best known for starring as Agent Steve Murphy on Narcos, Netflix’s drug cartel drama about the life and investigation of Pablo Escobar.
Fans have speculated Wolverine 3 might be an adaptation of Mark Millar's well-regarded Old Man Logan, however the description of the villain sounds vaguely like Captain Mooney, a recent villain from All-New Wolverine. A security officer for Alchemax, Mooney was tasked with tracking down clones of X-23, herself a clone of the original Wolverine.
