20th Century Fox's Gambit continues to undergo re-writes, delaying the now-unscheduled film so much that recently-hired director Doug Liman is in talks to direct another film in the unexpected delay period. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Liman is in negotiations to direct Amazon Studios' The Wall in the late spring/summer before returning to work on the Channing Tatum-starring Gambit.
Gambit was originally scheduled for release October 7, but after the departure of the original director Rupert Wyatt and other unspecified pre-production delays, the studio postponed the film indefinitely. The Hollywood trade now reports that Reid Carolin is re-writing the screenplay, with filming now expected to begin in "the end of 2016." Carolin is the producing partner of Gambit's star, Channing Tatum, and wrote both Magic Mike and Magic Mike XXL.
