FIGHT!1 of 12On Thursday, Marvel released a new trailer for Captain America: Civil War - a trailer that features many elements fans have been waiting to see .
Along with a clear explanation of the film's conflict - Iron Man is in favor of government oversight for superheroes while Cap opposes it - we also got the debut of Spider-Man, a look at Crossbones, and some very exciting hero vs. hero showdowns.
With so many important things to take in, Newsarama decided to dive deep and pull out ten things worth noticing in the new Captain America: Civil War trailer.
You can also check out some hi-res images from the new trailer right here.
HYDROBASE2 of 12For a short time in the '80's, the Avengers were headquartered in an aquatic facility known as Hydrobase (or Avengers Island). Could this bunker, seen emerging from the water, be the movie equivalent of this location? Or maybe it's the film's equivalent of the remote prison 42 that, in comic books, was situated in the Negative Zone.
One thing's for sure, we likely won't see the base's one-time owner and occasional Avenger Stingray in Captain America: Civil War.
BRING ON THE BAD GUYS3 of 12While we've already had our first official glimpse of Crossbones as he appears in Captain America: Civil War, now we've got our first scene of him in action. This moment likely comes from the early moments of the film, which reportedly feature an attack from Crossbones that incites part of the film's central conflict.
And though we've now seen Crossbones take the field, there's still a major villain missing from the film's marketing: Baron Zemo. Played by Daniel Bruhl, Zemo is Captain America: Civil War's biggest unknown.
VISION vs. SCARLET WITCH4 of 12In comic books, Vision and Scarlet Witch were married for a time, and even in the MCU, Scarlet Witch actress Elizabeth Olsen has talked about the connection they share.
But all of that looks to be out the window in the scene from the trailer where Wanda wracks Vision's body with her strange powers.
FASTBALL SPECIAL5 of 12The "fastball special" may be the provenance of the X-Men, but the Avengers' equivalent of the famous maneuver is one of this trailer's big moments.
In an homage to the iconic cover of Avengers #223, Hawkeye launches Ant-Man atop an arrow, sending him onto Iron Man's armor - where Scott Lang's engineering skills will presumably come in quite handy.
WAKANDAN DIPLOMACY6 of 12There's a shot of T'Challa reeling from an explosion in a United Nations meeting room -- possibly even the U.N. Assembly itself. We know that T'Challa enters the film as a diplomat before donning his Black Panther suit.
If rumors that this explosion is blamed on Winter Soldier hold true, this could be the catalyst for the rivalry between Winter Soldier and Black Panther - a fight that has some of the most dynamic action moments of the trailer, like T'Challa tackling Bucky's motorcycle.
"I COULD DO THIS ALL DAY"7 of 12Robert Downey, Jr. may have assured his fans that Tony Stark won't go full-on villain in Captain America: Civil War, but if there's any question as to the way Marvel wants him perceived in the film, it should be dispelled by this callback to Captain America: The First Avenger.
With his fists raised and face bloody, Cap tells Tony "I could do this all day," perfectly echoing a moment from his first solo movie in which a pre-super soldier Steve Rogers tells a bully who is assaulting him the same thing - right before Bucky steps in.
SPLASH PAGE8 of 12Directors the Russo brothers have called the scene in which the two rival squads face off on an airfield Captain America: Civil War's "splash page" moment, and in this trailer, we finally get the briefest glimpse of the two teams colliding.
Lots of big moments seem to happen during this climactic fight, and if appearances are to be believed, not everyone may walk away from the clash...
CASUALTY OF WAR9 of 12It's hard to say exactly how James Rhodes gets shot down while flying alongside Tony Stark, but it appears that the rocket that hits him may have been fired from the airfield at which the aforementioned "splash page" fight takes place.
Could War Machine be the film's first major casualty? In comic books' Civil War, Bill Foster, a.k.a. Goliath, is killed by an errant clone of Thor. Could War Machine take the role of a close ally who pays the ultimate price? And if so, could he be the film's only casualty?
BLACK WIDOW - DOUBLE AGENT?10 of 12There's been talk of a character switching sides during the course of Captain America: Civil War. From the looks of things, that may just be Black Widow. It's a little puzzling that she'd side with Stark against her close ally Captain America, but what if that's a ruse? Her character is after all defined as a spy. Deception has defined her best MCU moments.
First Natasha and Stark seem to be having strong words towards the middle of the trailer, then check out the trailer’s final moments. Yes, Nat is seen on Team Tony’s side running towards Team Steve, but check out where she’s standing when Spider-Man makes his debut.
Behind Cap, who doesn’t seem too concerned a combatant is behind him.
Sure, maybe Cap’s side is just surrounded and on the brink of defeat, but then why would Tony sounds exasperated and need to call in a reinforcement at that time?
Wouldn’t it make more sense for Iron Man to call in Spidey if the Widow reveals her true allegiance, to rebalance the scales?
UNDEROOS!11 of 12And here it is. The biggest moment of the new Captain America: Civil War trailer: the reveal of the new Spider-Man.
There's a lot to talk about with this new Spidey, so let's start with his costume, which combines influences of Steve Ditko's original design with some modern MCU touches. There's a bit of tech to his look, including his size-changing eyes. This, combined with the fact that he seems to side with Tony Stark and the relationship the two had in the comic book Civil War raises the question of whether Stark had anything to do with the costume seen here.
There are still a lot of questions about Spidey in Captain America: Civil War - will he switch sides like his comic book counterpart? Is this his only scene in the film?
While we can't answer these questions yet, we can give you a closer look at the costume with the hi-res image seenhere.
