Updated March 4, 2016 at 1:42 p.m. EST: Director Zack Snyder has confirmed that Malone's character has been cut from the theatrical release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but would be restored in the R-rated "Director's Cut." Though he did not reveal which character she will play, Snyder told Entertainment Weekly that she is "not Robin or Batgirl."

Original Story: One of the biggest kept secrets of Warner Bros.'s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been the character that actress Jena Malone is playing  -- and now that mystery may be prolonged past the movie's debut. Entertaiment Weekly reports that Malone's role was cut completely from the upcoming March 25 film, with no specific reason given.

Malone's character will reportedly appear, however, in the R-rated "Ultimate Edition" home video release. The Hollywood trade reports that this edition will also include "even more brutal fight scenes, and some new characters".

The theatrical version of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is reported to be 2 hours 31 minutes.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in theaters March 25.
