Fantasy/science fiction prose novelist Michael J. Sullivan has reached a deal with Dabel Brothers Publishing to bring his Riyria series to comic books. The partnership will begin a graphic novel titled Riyria: The Death of Dulgath, following rogues-for-hire Hadrian and Royce as they attempt to protect a noblewoman from being assassinated. Riyria: The Death of Dulgath will be illustrated by Nigel Raynor.

“I’m a huge fan of graphic novels and it’s always been high on my wish list to see Royce and Hadrian portrayed in this medium,” said Sullivan. “The Dabel Brothers’ enthusiasm for this project and their impressive track record makes them the perfect partner.”

Sullivan has done nine novels in the Riyria series, published by Hachette's Orbit imprint. He also has a series called The First Empire, published by Del Rey.

“With Michael, every book is an adventure. I have so much respect for him as a storyteller,” said Ernst Dabel, president of Dabel Brothers Publishing. “His Riyria tales are hugely popular, and we think fans are going to love seeing them in this new medium. Even first-time readers are going to be instantly hooked!”

Riyria: The Death of Dulgath is scheduled to be published later this year.
