After DC's announcement Thursday that Ethan Van Sciver would be one of three artists illustrating May's Rebirth kick-off DC Universe: Rebirth #1, the artist has announced that he's leaving his current book, Green Lantern Rebirth: Edge of Oblivion, early in order to focus on DC's upcoming revamp.
...I need to leave early. I'm sorry to go. I wanted a complete tpb with @TomTaylorMade, but I think we'll have another chance soon.Hope so!— Ethan Van Sciver (@EthanVanSciver) February 19, 2016
Green Lantern Corps: Edge of Oblivion #3 is currently scheduled for release in March, with the six-issue series planned to end in June 2016.
Van Sciver was the artist of Green Lantern: Rebirth, the mini-series that first used that title at DC, and is one of the spiritual inspirations for the initiative. Van Sciver also expressed his hope that he'll get to work with Edge of Oblivion writer Tom Taylor on future projects, perhaps insinuating that the pair will work together on a Rebirth title.
Speaking of Rebirth, Van Sciver also shared an ultrasound of his unborn child bearing a suspiciously photoshopped looking Green Lantern ring with the caption "Green Lantern: Prebirth."
