Warner Bros. subsidary New Line is in talks for the rights to develop a live-action movie based off Osamu Tezuka's Astro Boy, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Described as "a live-action, four-quadrant adventure movie" by THR, New Line's planned Astro Boy remake has reportedly already hired San Andreas screenwriters Andre Fabrizio and Jeremy Passmore for the project.

In 2009, an animated Astro Boy feature film stalled at the box office, earning only $44.1 million against a reported $65m budget.
