Writer/director Adam McKay played a major role in creating the script for Ant-Man, and he has now confirmed that he will officially return for the sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp.
“We’ve been talking to Marvel actually,” McKay told Nerdist. “We just talked to them the other day, and it looks like I will be involved [in Ant-Man and the Wasp]. I don’t know if it’s gonna be right from page one. But it looks like I will definitely be involved. There you go. There’s a little headline for the fanboys!”
McKay's latest directorial effort, The Big Short, garnered an Oscar nomination for Best Picture. Writers Andrew Barrer, Gabriel Ferrari, and Paul Rudd - who also stars as Scott Lang/Ant-Man - have already been confirmed as working on Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Ant-Man and the Wasp is scheduled to hit theaters July 6, 2018. Ant-Man will next appear in Captain America: Civil War, due out May 6.
