Fabian Nicieza, who scripted Deadpool's first appearance and who has written the character many times in the years since has offered his review of Ryan Reynolds's Deadpool film. Spoiler alert - he liked it.
"The Deadpool movie is funny and action-packed like you'd want, but also sweet, sad, romantic, and uplifting like I wanted it to be," Nicieza wrote on Facebook. “It is a near-perfect translation of the character Rob and I created who has been continually improved upon by so many excellent writers and artists over 25 years of comics publishing.”
The long-time writer goes on to thank co-creator Rob Liefeld and director Tim Miller for "working very hard to ensure we received credit and Easter Eggs, too!"
Nicieza also says thanks for using his name in several street signs, and a certain Easter egg Newsarama pointed out from the trailer depicting X-Men alumnus Marrow.
Deadpool hits theaters February 12.
