Another classic Star Wars character is coming to Star Wars: Rebels this season - Princess Leia, the figurehead of the Rebellion. But she's not quite the Leia we know from the original trilogy just yet.
“One of the complex challenges of depicting Leia in Rebels is that we have to remind the audience that at this point she is part of the Empire,” Star Wars: Rebels executive producer David Filoni told TV Insider. “She doesn’t believe in the Empire, but she is acting the part, almost a double agent.”
Star Wars: Rebels takes place before the original Star Wars film.
“We thought we had an opportunity to show her learning to be a leader, experimenting with the personality that becomes the stronger more resolute character you see in A New Hope.”
Leia will appear in the episode "A Princess In Lothal," which airs January 20 on Disney XD. Here's a clip:
This will be Leia's only appearance in this season of Star Wars: Rebels, though the possbility remains open for further appearances in later seasons.
