Supehero movies aren't the strict domain of DC and Marvel, as two creator-owned superhero projects have found screenwriters for live-action movie adaptations.
Ride Along screenwriter Jason Mantzoukas has been hired to write Paramount's feature adaptation of Paul Pope's Battling Boy graphic novel, according to Deadline. Described as a "live-action/animated hybrid," the film is to be directed by Patrick Osborne with Brad Pitt's Plan B producing. Mantzoukas is busy man, working both as a screenwriter with Ride Along and Children's Hospital while also co-starring in FX's The League, Amazon's Transparent and the upcoming movie Dirty Grandpa.
Meanwhile, Variety reports that Fox's planned adaptation of the Marvel/Icon series Superior by Mark Millar and Leinil Yu has hired screenwriting duo Brandon and Phillip Murphy. No director has been announced for this project, but Matthew Vaughn (director of Kick-Ass and Kingsman) is producing the film.
