Marvel Comics has reportedly announced a 2016  event titled "Apocalypse Wars." According to an attendee at Comic Con Experience 2015 (CCXP) in Sao Paolo, Brazil (tweeted at Newsarama Friday morning), Marvel talent manager Ricky Purdin stated that "Apocalypse Wars" will run through Extraordinary X-Men, All-New X-Men and Uncanny X-Men.

Photos of a title card shown at the CCXP panel by Marvel have also surfaced online.

In comic books, Apocalypse was last seen in the Axis crossover in early 2015. An alternate universe version of the character was featured -- and killed -- in Secret Wars.

Apocalypse was teased in the post-credits scene of X-Men: Days of Future Past, and is the primary villain in May 26's X-Men: Apocalypse.

Newsarama has not yet reached Marvel Comics for confirmation.
