Supergirl debuted to huge ratings, making it the number one show of the fall in the coveted 18-49 demographic. But as the series has continued, it has experienced a ratings drop common to other genre shows.
Supergirl's premiere brought in a reported 12.9 million viewers. But according to Variety, ratings for its third episode diminished to 8.9 million viewers - a 31% decline from the premiere. This placed Supergirl third in the 18-49 demographic for its timeslot, just ahead of Fox's Gotham.
Ratings drops like these are somewhat the norm for similar genre shows. The aforementioned Gotham premiered to 8.21 million viewers, which dropped 22.5% to 6.36 million by its third episode. Meanwhile, ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. raked in 12.12 million viewers, declining 35% to 7.87 million in its third week.
These numbers do not reflect DVR viewers.
Supergirl airs Monday nights on CBS.
