KIRKMAN & SKYBOUND Signs Deal To Develop New TV Shows

The Walking Dead co-creator Robert Kirkman's Skybound imprint has signed a deal with the newly formed Insurrection Media to create and produce genre-based television series.

According to Variety, the deal will lead to the creation of new media for television and digital outlets by Kirkman and The Walking Dead producer David Alpert. Skybound will be in charge of production for these projects, and will also collaborate with Insurrection on video games and other properties.

“We’re exhilarated to be partnering with Robert Kirkman and David Alpert,” said Kiliaen Van Rensselaer, head of Insurrection. “They are visionaries and entrepreneurs who understand science fiction storytelling and multi-platform content development better than anyone else.”

“Kiliaen’s philosophy around empowering creators to experiment with resources in a laissez-faire environment is very appealing to the team here at Skybound,” said Alpert. “We’re excited to work with him to demonstrate that we can hatch some world-class shows with this approach.”

Earlier this year, Skybound signed a similar first-look deal for films with Universal Studios.

No further information about any projects was announced.
