Fans have been wondering how Jared Leto would interpret the Joker in next summer's Suicide Squad. The iconic character has had many striking performances on screen, Now, Grant Morrison may have revealed some insight into Leto's direction with the Joker.

"It looks quite interesting." Morrison told Comic Heroes Magazine (via GamesRadar) "[Leto] called me to talk about his approach to the character and I steered him in a few directions. I'm keen to see if anything other than slicked back hair and the Marilyn Manson vibe made it into his performance."

If Leto does glean anything from Morrison's portrayal of the Joker, we may be seeing a fully unhinged clown prince of crime. For his part, Leto seems to have dived deep into the role, with even his co-star Will Smith saying he "never met" Jared Leto on the set of Suicide Squad - just the Joker.

“[Suicide Squad] is insane. I’ve never actually met Jared Leto," Smith told Beats 1 (via Complex). "We worked together for 6 months and we’ve never exchanged a word outside of ‘Action!’ and ‘Cut!’ I literally have not met him yet. So, the first time I see him will be ‘Hey, Jared. What’s up?’ He was all in on the Joker.”

Fans will find out just how twisted Leto's Joker is when Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5, 2016.
