Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are long-time friends, but it turns out they vied for the same high-profile superhero role over a decade ago.
"For us it was always Daredevil - that's the comic we read when we were kids," Damon told the New York Daily News. "But when that one came along (in 2003) I chickened out, because I couldn't tell. I hadn't seen the director (Mark Steven Johnson's) work and I didn't know. So I just said, 'No.' Ben was like, 'I gotta do it.' And the movie ended up doing very well, even though I don't think Ben was ultimately very proud of it."
But Damon also confessed he would not close the door on the idea of playing Daredevil, though it would take a particularly high profile project for him to take the role.
"If Chris Nolan came up to me and said, 'I want to do Daredevil,' I would be in."
The likelihood of something like that coming to pass is slim to none, considering the success Marvel has had with its Netflix Daredevil series, where Matt Murdock is played by Charlie Cox.
As for Damon's future as a superhero, there's always a chance he'll land a costumed role. After all, Ben Affleck managed to take the role of Batman in DC's cinematic universe.
Daredevil season 2 premieres in 2016 on Netflix.
