Report: DC's LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Adds CHECKMATE Character

TVLine is reporting that Mr. Robot actress Stephanie Corneliussen has been cast in CW's DC's Legends of Tomorrow as one-time Doom Patrol and Checkmate agent Valentine Vostok. Corneliussen will reportly appear in several episodes as a "gifted and beautiful" Russian physicist.

Vostok will reportedly debut in one of the Legends of Tomorrow teams time jumps courtesy of Rip Hunter, appearing as a Cold War-era operative for the U.S.S.R. suspsected to be working on a secret weapon with Vandal Savage (played by Casper Crump). Wentworth Miller's Captain Cold and Brandon Routh's the Atom will reportedly vye for some romantic time with the Russian stalwart, with TVLine teasing a change of allegiance for Vostok.

In comic books, Vostok was introduced as a Soviet Air Force lieutenant who attempts to defect to the United States aboard a stolen experimental fighter. The plane crashes, however, on the site where the original Doom Patrol perished (including Negative Man), giving her his powers -- and eventually the moniker of Negative Woman. She later became involved with Checkmate, eventually assuming Amanda Waller's position as White Queen.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow is scheduled to premiere in early 2016.
