Forbes reports that, as of this weekend, Ant-Man has surpassed 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger in domestic box office earnings.

With a total domestic box office of $177 million, Ant-Man has officially overtaken Captain America: The First Avenger's total of $176.6 million. This leaves Ant-Man the third lowest domestic earner of all Marvel Cinematic Universe films, just ahead of The First Avenger, and 2008's The Incredible Hulk, despite also having one of Marvel's lowest budgets at $130 million.

Globally, estimates place Ant-Man's earnings slightly north of the $400 million mark, and with China still on its release scheduled in October, it stands a reasonable chance to surpass Thor's $449 million in global earnings from 2011.

These figures do not account for inflation and the higher price of 3D tickets.
