Fans of the Farscape TV show saw the series wrap up with the 4 part mini-series The Peacekeeper Wars, but now the adventures of astronaut John Crichton continue in the pages of the Fascape comic book from Boom Studios. The new comics first three issues have sold out, causing 3rd print runs of the first three issues.
On this edition of the Word Balloon podcast, we talk about the series success with writer Keith R.A. DeCandido. Keith co-writes the series with Farscape's creator Rockne S O'Bannon. In our interview DeCandido discusses the characters and plot threads still left to explore in the coming months, including an upcoming flashback mini series featuring the series Luxan warrior D'Argo and former thief Jool. That story takes place between season 3 and 4 of the TV series.
We also discuss Keith's years of writing and editing the Star Trek novels produced by Pocket Books. DeCandido has written 16 Trek novels, and has edited several anthology books and novels in the various Trek eras and worlds. He co-created the Starfleet Corps Of Engineers e-novels. He also has an IDW Star Trek Aliens one shot coming in April featuring the Klingons. Keith's story looks at Kang, the Klingon captain featured in The Original Series episode "Day Of The Dove," Deep Space Nine's "Blood Oath," and Voyager's "Flashback." Kang was always portrayed by actor Michael Ansara.
In Keith's story, we see 3 past stories of Kang's career that revolve around the old Klingon proverb "4000 throats may be cut in one night by a running man."
