CW is bringing in Doctor Light for The Flash's upcoming second season. Showrunner Gabriel Stanton tells TVLine that "the female" Doctor Light, who was  mentioned briefly in a previous episode of Arrow as a former employee of S.T.A.R. Labs, would appear as a metahuman sometime this coming season. No actress has been announced as of yet for the role.

Although the most popular Doctor Light in DC continuity is a male villain, a female Doctor Light was introduced in 1985's Crisis On Infinite Earths as Kimiyo Hoshi. Hoshi was both an astronomer and medical doctor, and received powers when the Anti-Monitor sends a beam of energy from the star Vega to Earth. In addition to working at S.T.A.R. Labs, Hoshi has also been a member of the Justice League, Doom Patrol, Birds of Prey, and even the Blue Beetle's Kord Enterprises.

The second season of The Flash begins October 6 on the CW.
