GIRL MEETS WORLD Features THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS
i09 reports that an upcoming episode of Girl Meets World features Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns as a major plot point.
According to the report, a new teacher uses The Dark Knight Returns as a lesson plan to show the struggle of good versus evil as a grey area, a plot point that is mimicked when the new teacher butts heads with the school principle in a conflict that echoes Batman and Superman's fight in the comic book.
Girl Meets World airs on the Disney Channel, which is interesting as Disney is the parent company of Marvel, which puts them in direct competition with Warner Bros. and DC Comics who have a movie heavily inspired by The Dark Knight Returns in Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice coming out next year.
COBIE SMULDERS Talks MARIA HILL In The MCU
In an interview with The Daily Beast, Avengers: Age Of Ultron actress Cobie Smulders talked about what it's like to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and whether fans can expect to see Maria Hill in Captain America: Civil War.
“It’s very secretive. They like to keep the surprises for the audience so they don’t reveal a lot of information—even to the inner circle,” said Smulders of being a part of the MCU. “But it is nice! It’s very cool to be a part of the world, and a part of this ongoing story that’s happening. Normally, you walk into a movie, have a script, and then you’re done with it, or at the most you’ll do a sequel—maybe. But with the Marvel world, they’re doing television, they have merchandise like crazy, and Lego video games. It’s cool to be a part of all of it."
As for whether she'll appear in Captain America: Civil War, Smulders stayed mum. “That’s really sweet that you asked me, but I can’t talk about that. I’ll get in trouble!”
