NBC is working on reboot of Xena: Warrior Princess for television in 2016, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Originally debuting in 1995 as a spin-off of the syndicated Hercules: The Legendary Journeys series, Xena: Warrior Princess starred Lucy Lawless as a fearless warrior looking to change her dark ways. Original producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi are reportedly involved with this planned reboot, with NBC said to beinterested in bringing Lawless onboard in an unspecified capacity.
According to these reports, NBC is looking for a "modern reboot" which blends the unique charisma of Lawless with modern day female-fronted movies like The Hunger Games' Katniss.
Lawless and one of her Xena: Warrior Princess co-stars, Bruce Campbell, are both starring in the upcoming Starz' series Ash vs. The Evil Dead.
