In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra co-creator Bryan Konietzko revealed his plans for a new series of graphic novels entitled Threadworlds.

Threadworlds focuses on the story of Nova, a young girl and an aspiring scientist who sets off on an adventure to explore the universe. Konietzko will write and draw the first volume, though he says he may bring in other artists for later installments of the series.

Konietzko also revealed that he hopes Nova will inspire girls to explore science, though like Avatar and Korra he plans for the book to appeal to readers of all ages and genders.

"Threadworlds has high stakes, relatable characters and a wide range of tones – similar to the work I co-created with Michael [DiMartino, co-creator of Avatar]," said Konietzko.

“And though the focus is on science there will be plenty of action and adventure. That’s definitely me being true to myself as a creator."

Threadworlds will debut from FirstSecond books in 2017.
