But it's his caption "sh*t just for real" that has fans wondering if that's a hint of some kind, or just self-promotion.
Gibson previously talked about the prospective part in interview with Entertainment Tonight, revealing a meeting with Warner Bros. had taken place.
“There are certain things I can’t speak on,” said Gibson. “But I will say, however this works out, it’s definitely the fans’ fault. I was at home minding my own business and fans start creating these fan-made videos of me as Green Lantern and I looked into it. I’ve been a fan of the Green Lantern. I took the oath, and I had a meeting at Warner Bros. and certain things were said and talked about. We’ll just see what happens.”
Although Gibson's never played a a superhero in film, comic book fans are familiar with him for openly petitioning in the past to be cast as Luke Cage going all the way back to 2010, as well as creating a series for Image Comics titled Mayhem. That being said, the success of the Fast & Furious franchise could do something to help earn Gibson that part. Several of his co-stars such as Vin Diesel, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Djimon Hounsou, and Gal Gadot have all gone on to be cast in various Marvel and DC movies.
“Listen, these muscles are here and they’re ready to be used,” Gibson told ET. “There are lot of people, domestically and internationally, who’s got love with your boy. I’m coming into this thing with some fans and some box office receipts behind my name and I say that proudly and humbly. I just think I deserve a shot at suiting up and becoming the Green Lantern.”
