In interesting corporate juxtaposition, Disney announced Wednesday that Lucasfilm will have a Comic-Con International Hall H panel next month for December’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The news comes a day after Deadline reported that Marvel Studios is sitting out San Diego this year, despite the presence of Captain America: Civil War and Doctor Strange on their 2016 schedule.
The Star Wars: The Force Awakens panel will take place on Friday July 10 and will reportedly offer director J.J. Abrams, producer Kathleen Kennedy, writer Lawrence Kasdan and “special guests.”
Is this a matter of Disney trying to reserve all their Comic-Con buzz for their Star Wars relaunch?
Disney will hold their own D23 Expo event in August in which Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm will have a presence.
