SETH KUSHNER Passes Away

Comics industry photographer and creator Seth Kushner passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015.

Kushner, who became known in comics for his photography work with Graphic NYC and later Leaping Tall Buildings: The Origins of American Comics. Kushner delved into comics creation himself, creating photocomics as well as working with other artists on stories for his self-published anthologies Schmuck and Secret Sauce. Kushner was a notable name in the New York-area comics scene, and co-founded the small press company Hang Dai Editions.

"The wonderfully talented and sweet Seth Kushner has passed, leaving the world a less interesting place and those of us who were his photography subjects a choice between pretending not to age and being portrayed less well," said comics writer and former DC Publisher Paul Levitz. 

Kushner was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in April 2014, and waged a very public battle with the disease, using crowdfunding to help defray the costs of medical expenses.
