First Look: STAR WARS #5 Variant Cover With C-3PO

A big part of Star Wars' initial success lay in the innovative merchandising efforts, and key in that was action figures. Marvel has keyed into that, and the original Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars figures, for a string of "action figure" variant covers by John Tyler Christopher across their comics line -- and now it's coming full circle to Star Wars #5.

Newsarama has the exclusive first look at a C-3PO "action figure variant by Christopher to be published with May's Star Wars #5. At C2E2, Marvel Senior Vp of Sales and Marketing David Gabriel told retailers that sales of the variants were "nuts."
