Francis Tsai, a noted artist for comics and video games, passed away Thursday according to his wife Linda.
"Hi everyone--this is Linda. As many of you have heard, Francis passed away this morning," Linda Tsai posted on Francis' Facebook. "This is all pretty new and I'm still a little in shock. Suddenly there is a big hole in my life. Francis was my soul mate. I loved him for his integrity, his (somewhat warped) sense of humor and his artistic drive. I will miss him like crazy. Please post your stories, memories and reflections on Francis here and help keep him alive in our hearts."
Born in Honolulu Hawaii, Tsai worked primarily in the video game industry on titles such as Myst 3: Exile and Tomb Raider: Anniversary, but also worked on comics on titles like Heroes for Hire, Marvel Comics Presents, the comics adaptation of Mercy Thompson: Homecoming and the Top Cow series Tracker.
In 2010 he was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), but continued to draw despite losing the ability to use his arms or legs by using eye-tracking software and a tablet.
