Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a sequel to Man of Steel, right?

Not so fast says Henvy Cavill.

In an interview with MTV's Josh Horowitz at CinemaCon, Cavill -- alongside actor Armie Hammer, who was there promoting another movie -- was quick to correct the assumption calls it an introduction to something else entirely.

"I wouldn't call this a Superman sequel. This is Batman versus Superman, so it's a seperate entity all together," Cavill says. It's introducing the Batman character and expnding on the universe which was kicked off by Man of Steel."

Cavill goes on to say what he hopes Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be.

"Watch this space, it could all change in the editing room, but as it stands it's definitely the introduction of a new character and, hopefully, the Justice League."

Here's the video interview in its entirety:

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled for release March 25, 2016.
