After months of rumors, The Hollywood Reporter is citing unnamed sources Monday that say that Joe and Anthony Russo have officially signed on to direct Avengers: Infinity War parts one and two. The duo, who made their Marvel debut with Captain America: The Winter Soldier and about to begin shooting Captain America: Civil War, have become a hot commodity in Hollywood, signing an exclusive first-look deal with Sony Entertainment in February.

If this report proves accurate, it would seem to confirm Joss Whedon's likely departure from Marvel Studios after directing the first two Avengers films - the second of which, Avengers: Age of Ultron, is scheduled to debut May 1.

Avengers: Infinity War is scheduled to be released in two parts on May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019, with THR stating that it would be filmed back-to-back beginning sometime in 2016.
