This fall, superhero television looks to be getting more "super."
Warner Bros. just uneviled the first look at Supergirl's Melissa Benoist in the title role. The costume by award-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood looks to be inspired by the more classic Supergirl costume as opposed to the armored look seen in the "New 52" and in the Man of Steel movie costume for her cousin, Superman.
"In designing Supergirl, I wanted to embrace the past, but more importantly, thrust her into the street-style action hero of today," Atwood said in a press release.
Atwood has become the go-to designer for DC's television heroes, designing super-suits for both Arrow and The Flash in the past. She's won awards for her costume work in movies such as Alice In Wonderland, Memoirs of a Geisha and Chicago.
The Supergirl pilot officially began shooting earlier this week with Glen Winter directing.
