Marvel Heroes 2015
The sleeper hit of Marvel's "Spider-Verse" event, the Gwen Stacy Spider-Woman of Earth-65 (aka Spider-Gwen) is coming to Marvel Heroes 2015 as both an AI controlled Team-Up hero (complete with her eye catching hoodie'd spider-suit and custom voice work) and as an Enhanced Costume for the playable Spider-Man. She is a part of the recently announced Team-Up Advance Pack 2 and will unlock in 2015 along with the other planned Team-Ups for this year: Agent Venom, the X-Man Angel in his 'Classic Blue' costume, Carnage (presumably Axis-flipped), the Sam Wilson All-New Captain America, Quicksilver, Pepper Potts as Rescue and the Brazilian mutant Sunspot. People who pony up early will also get X-Force Archangel and the aforementioned Spider-Gwen Enhanced Costume a month before it is available to the public.
January also saw the release of the game's second Young Avenger, Wiccan a.k.a. the spell-casting “son” of Scarlet Witch and the android Vision. Just like the Kate Bishop Hawkeye, Wiccan is an Enhanced Costume, this time for his 'mother' to take in account for how much their powers can overlap. However rather then just a skin with a new voice and dialogue, 'wearing' the Wiccan costume will change the visuals of all of Scarlet Witch's powers from her red to Wiccan's signature blue.
In other game news, the community has been teased with a revamp of the entire Team-Up system, a new Raid based on the Axis event culminating with a battle against Red Onslaught and a playable Winter Soldier. New standard costumes this month including Ultimate Hulk's Tibetan look, Toxin for Venom, X-Force X-23 and Marvel Now Magneto in black.
DC Universe Online
In January DC Universe Online formally announced their next DLC: Amazon Fury Part II, for release this winter.
Amazon Fury Part II will continue the story of the Amazons' war on the mortal realm and what caused Queen Hippolyta's madness. This new chapter will introduce both Aries and Hades into DC Universe Online as players explore DC's mythological underworld in three 8-player raids and two 4 player operations as well as new single player content.
This month's Legends PvE event is the League of Assassin's Stronghold where any of your unlocked Legends characters can take on Ra's Al Ghul and his legions of trained killers (except for the DJs).
This month’s new champion is the Kendra Saunders Hawkgirl of Earth Prime. As a fast-moving bruiser-class champion she is perfect for quick assaults to start battles and the fatal pursuit of fleeing enemies. Her passive stacks a temporary defensive buff while her initial special is a throw of her signature mace that pierces foes and allows for a follow-up dash attack on second activation. Her Soar power breaks crowd-control, gives a speed buff and a single use attack buff. Haymaker causes silence and has a combo effect if it is activated right after Soar.. Finally her ultimate attack is an automatic juggle with an AoE knockdown effect that is applied to surrounding foes and a shield for Hawkgirl.
Hawkgirl launches with her standard costume and an 'Armored Vigil' form is available in the in-game store. In other costume news, ‘Fire Alarm’ Mecha Superman gives the Android-of-Steel a fire engine makeover while the 'Northern Light' costume for the Arcane Green Lantern makes him look like he'd be comfortable north of The Wall with his battle axe and wolf pelt cloak.
